General Information

GroupNS.ca is the parent organization of affiliated groups of community focused web sites in the province of Nova Scotia. GroupNS.ca was founded in January 2008 and is an expansion of an idea that originated with the first affiliate web site, ChesterNS.ca. All of our affiliate web sites share a common look and feel and have similar functionality.
GroupNS.ca affiliate sites draw visitors by providing weather updates every 5 minutes, as well as weather forecasts for the community they represent. Site owners are involved in their community and are expected to post at least 1 news worthy item, ideally with photos, that is relevant to their community, per week. The purpose of the site is to bring the community together and provide a forum for dissemination of community information and events, and community dialogue to occur.

Requirements

GroupNS.ca Affiliates must:

Have broadband internet connectivity

Have a track record of involvement in and passion for their community

Commit to posting at least 1 news item per week

Possess beyond basic computer skills, and ideally a familiarity with web development, or have access to a person with these skills

Be familiar with the GroupNS.ca value proposition and communicate it clearly to potential sponsors and community organizations.

Package Pricing

The base package price is $5000.00 (including tax), payable in 3 payments over 6 months. There are some optional components in the package, including a new computer, new wireless router, and digital camera, that may not be needed. Existing hardware must meet GroupNS.ca reliability and performance requirements to qualify to opt-out of these package components.

Yearly fees, after the 1st year, are $350.00, which cover domain registration and web hosting fees, technical support from groupns.ca, and licensing fees.
